The GBCA Safety Department is equipped to handle member’s needs to ensure a safe job every time through Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) courses, safety seminars, site visits, and OSHA citation handling services.

OSHA Construction Safety Course

The GBCA offers a 30-hour OSHA approved Construction Safety Course three times a year. Courses start in January, June, and September and run on Thursday evenings for 12 weeks.

GBCA Semi Annual OSHA Update

The semi-annual OSHA Update occurs twice a year. This day-long, intensive seminar provides up to the minute developments from OSHA and the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission (OSHRC).

The program is designed for participants from the labor movement, the legal profession, and the construction industry who wish to experience the current updates on such topics as: Total Cost of Construction Accidents, Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Confined Space Entry, and Personal Protective Equipment.

GBCA Safety Jeep

The GBCA Safety Jeep and Midnight Jeep are available to make safety presentations at GBCA members’ jobsites throughout the year. Presentations include videos, lectures, and question and answer sessions with Jim Sassaman, Director of Employee Relations.

OSHA Citation Handling Service

GBCA’s OSHA Citation Handling Service reduces and eliminates unwarranted penalties for GBCA members. In addition, safety services offered to members includes deposition and courtroom training and research services for cases that go to trial.

In the past, the OSHA Citation Handling Service offered through the GBCA has resulted in an average of a 44% reduction in fines for members.
